What Are Characteristics of the 4A Molecular Sieve?
Due to the large pore structure and particle size of 4A molecular sieve crystals, the adsorption performance of the 4A molecular sieve is very strong. For the adsorption of non-ionic surfactants, 4A molecular sieve is 3 times that of NTA (secondary aminotriacetate) and sodium carbonate, and 5 times that of sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP) and sodium sulfate, so this property is used for agglomeration molding. It would make sense to produce more concentrated surfactants in high strength detergents to produce products with good wash and flow properties.
1. The 4A molecular sieve has certain detergency
Through experiments, the same formulation with different additives was used to vary the detergency of the additives. It was found that 20% STPP, 20% molecular sieve, and 4% polymer had the same detergency effect as 40% STPP. Adding 10% sodium carbonate and 4.5% polymer to 10% molecular sieve in a phosphorus-free formula can get a product with excellent detergency, which has a great effect on detergents and can improve detergency.
2. The 4A molecular sieve has anti-redeposition property
The 4A molecular sieve has good oil adhesion. When the 4A molecular sieve is added to additives such as sodium carbonate, CMC, sodium silicate, and sodium sulfate, the amount of oil adsorption on the nylon cloth is significantly reduced. When the particle size of the 4A molecular sieve is 0.4-1.0μm, the dispersibility is better and the adhesion to the fabric can be prevented. Although the dispersing ability of the 4A molecular sieve is not as good as that of STPP, it can solve the problem of dirt dispersing compounded with sodium polyacrylate, which has a certain effect on improving the degreasing ability of specific fabrics.
3. 4A molecular sieve has good compatibility with other auxiliary equipment
4A molecular sieve and other additives can complement its performance. Compared with STPP, 4A molecular sieve has better dispersibility of dirt and hardness ions. However, when 4A molecular sieve is mixed with STPP, decontamination can achieve the effect of STPP alone, because STPP can rapidly complex calcium and magnesium ions from the solid surface and transfer them to the 4A molecular sieve through an aqueous medium. The 4A molecular sieve has poor ability to bind magnesium ions and can be compensated by incorporating silicates and carbonates in the molecular sieves.
4. The 4A molecular sieve is safe
The 4A molecular sieve is non-toxic and has high safety to human body. It is non-irritating to eyes and skin, and does not cause allergies so it is safe and reliable to use. It is washed and deposited in the soil without causing pollution and even improving the soil. The 4A molecular sieve has no adverse effect on ecology. This is important for reducing environmental pollution caused by everyday chemicals such as laundry detergent.
5. The 4A molecular sieve has the function of softening water
The ion exchange of the 4A molecular sieve is carried out with aluminum ions on the framework. Each aluminum ion is negatively charged and can bind not only sodium ions but other cations as well. Calcium and magnesium ions can enter the large crystal pores occupied by the original sodium ions and replace the sodium ions in the 4A molecular sieve, that is, the sodium ions in the 4A molecular sieve can undergo ion exchange and can be combined with the Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions in hard water to exchange to soften the water quality.
