What is molecular sieve used for?
Molecular sieve adsorbent is mainly used in air separation plant, natural gas dehydration, circulation purification of alkanes, refrigerants, drying of various electronic components, etc. Its instantaneous adsorption capacity is strong, water absorption is high, and the selective absorption of water is higher than any other molecule. Moreover, molecular sieves can also adsorb methanol, ethanol, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide, etc.
What are the uses of different molecular sieves?
(1) 3A Molecular Sieve
Before cryogenic separation, the cracked gas must be dehydrated deeply to reduce the water content to less than 5ppm (i.e. the dew point is below - 60 ℃). At present, the zeolite 3A molecular sieve is generally recognized as a deep dry adsorbent. Because it only adsorbs water molecules in the cracking gas and does not adsorb large hydrocarbon molecules (such as C2H6, C2H4, C3H8, and C3H6), it can prevent olefin compounds from coking in the pore channel of the molecular sieve, and then extend the service life of the adsorbent.
(2) 4A Molecular Sieve
Molecular sieve type 4A is used to dry Freon refrigerants and other substances with a molecular size larger than 4.8.
(3) 5A Molecular Sieve
5A molecular sieve is used as an efficient adsorbent for oxygen and nitrogen separation in the air separation and oxygen production industry. The purity of oxygen produced by 5A molecular sieve can be controlled between 50-90% according to the demand. It is widely used in fine n-alkanes (dewaxing) in petroleum and its fractions. The quality of dewaxed oil has the excellent function of aviation fire oil with a low freezing point. The separated n-alkanes (white wax) can be used as chemical materials for synthetic detergent.

Can zeolite be used in aircraft fuel tanks?

Ensure that the oxygen concentration of the fuel tank is lower than 9%, reducing the flammability of the fuel tank. Are molecular sieves reusable?
After the molecular sieve adsorption is saturated, it can be regenerated to remove the molecules adsorbed to the molecular sieve sphere, and then the adsorption can be carried out again. The regeneration treatment mainly includes raising the regeneration temperature, generally raising the high-temperature gas to 200 ℃ to discharge the water and other molecular sieves in the ball. After high-temperature regeneration, the molecular sieve regained its activity for adsorption.
